A brief history of Enterprise Holdings:
1957: Jack Taylor opens Executive Leasing, as a way of financing vehicles, with a location inside of a St. Louis car dealership.
1962: We begin renting cars by the day through our first rental location in St. Louis. We also open our first retail Car Sales location.
1969: Our business expands outside of St. Louis to Atlanta, Georgia. We also change our name from Executive Leasing to Enterprise, in honor of the aircraft carrier Jack Taylor served on during World War II as a decorated fighter pilot.
1974: An Enterprise Manager in Orlando begins to offer customers a free ride to the rental office. The service quickly spreads to other Enterprise locations and today is known as our “We’ll Pick You Up” trademark service.
1980: The Enterprise National Reservation Center opens, allowing customers to call a toll-free number to reserve Enterprise vehicles nationwide. Today, National Reservations is known as our Contact Centers and supports all of our brands.
1993: Enterprise expands into Canada, opening a location in Windsor.
1994: With our first location in Reading, England, our expansion into Europe begins.
1995: Our first on-airport location opens in Denver, Colorado.
